Bicycle Tune Up Form

Bike maintenance is one of the most important things to check on before the Junior High Bike Trip. In past years we have made a bicycle tune up optional. This year we are requiring it be done.

The reason for this change is that in past years the wear and tear of this trip on bikes that have not been tuned up have caused problems like broken axles, multiple flat tires, and other bike frame damage. The best way to prevent any of this is to take your bike to a local bike shop, explain the kind of trip you are going to take and ask for a basic tune up on your bike.

The following should all be included in this type of tune up:

• Tires inspected
• Inner tubes inspected
• Over all bike frame inspected
• Bike wheels inspected
• Brakes inspected
• Bike chain inspected and oiled
• Gear system (if your bike has one) inspected

í Note : Very minor bike repairs can be made along the trip. Repairs of a more serious nature may mean that your camper is unable to complete the trip and will need to return home early. Please take the time to have your child’s bicycle tuned up prior to sending them to camp.
